THOUGHT FOR THE DAY

“Ruin and recovering are both from within.” – Epictetus

Epictetus, the Roman-era Stoic philosopher, lived a very ascetic life, believing that happiness came from living “according to the will of nature” and that free will comes from how we respond to circumstances. He was born in 55 AD in what is now Turkey and spent most of his life in Rome. He spent his youth as a slave and became crippled due to his master’s harsh treatment. He was later exiled to Greece, where he founded a school and wrote his most famed work, The Discourses. He died in 135.

CALL OUT FOR AUTHORS/PUBLISHERS/EDITORS/AGENTS plus NEW BLOG DESIGN plus COOL ARTICLE!

Good morning everyone!

I hope you had a nice weekend and are looking forward to the week ahead. Why am I so cheerful this early in the morning? Why not? We are not in control of a lot of things but we are in control of our attitude and how we look at things and treat other people. So, good morning Sunshine! 🙂

I wanted to introduce you to my new blog design. I have looked for days for the right header and background and spent hours working on it and I finally mixed two things together that I liked and here it is!

I am not a dark, goth person, which is cool too, but more of a gold, rust, and brown type of girl. I love the Autumn colors and of course I had to throw in a vampire beauty! I hope you like it!

Hope you have a great day and thanks for stopping by to say hello! 🙂

AUTHOR OF THE WEEK

I also hope you liked my first segment of AUTHOR OF THE WEEK where I hosted author Christine Cunningham yesterday. I wanted to make her photo larger but for some reason, I was unable to do that.  😦

Next week I will host another talented young writer, PIERRE GILSON.  He writes edgy, realistic types of stories and is also a very talented artist. He will be here on February 12th!

I am still looking for authors/ writers/editors/publishers/agents, anyone in the field who would be interested in doing a guest blog or interview.  I would like to start featuring a segment from publishers, agents and editors giving advice for writers.

So please let me know and I can get you hooked up right away!

Speaking of guest blogs and blog tours, I found this neat article from Writer’s Digest which talks about “10 Tips on Guest Blogging and Blog Tours”…check it out…http://www.writersdigest.com/editor-blogs/guide-to-literary-agents/10-tips-on-guest-blogging-and-blog-tours?et_mid=533431&rid=3095933

This is a really cool video my friend Judy sent me the other day. It actually mad me cry but then again, I am a sappy Pisces and I cry at a lot of stuff but check it out..it is about the power of our words and how they can change our world…http://www.youtube.com/watch_popup?v=Hzgzim5m7oU&vq=medium

On a personal note…my favorite song of all time is ‘THESE BOOTS WERE MADE FOR WALKING” by the legendary Nancy Sinatra…well I got a notice this morning that she is now following me on Twitter! Yippee! I really love her and that song will always be my fav! Thanks Nancy! 🙂

MY NEW INTERVIEW!!! plus TIPS ON SELLING YOUR FICTION ARTICLE!!!

Happy Friday everyone!

That sounds a lot better than Happy Monday doesn’t it? 🙂

Well, we had a 70 degree day here in Maryland the other day and it was just enough to tease me and make me want summer even more! But it was nice to be out and about and not have to worry about putting on layers of coats! I even washed my hair on the back porch with the garden hose! Yes, yes, I guess I am a country girl at heart!

Hope you all enjoy your week and thanks for stopping by to say hello! 🙂

~RECENT HAPPENINGS~

I was recently interviewed by Lori Moore, the author of  From Zero to Christian in Just 35 Years, Missing Andy:  The Journey From Grief to Joy and Grady the Gray Cat.

It was a lot of fun and Lori is a really nice girl with some awesome books to read. In fact, Lori will be featured here on my blog in the next few weeks as an Author of the Week!

Here is my interview:

 http://www.loriamooreonline.com/blog/2012/02/02/An-Interview-with-Author-Lisa-V-Proulx.aspx

Also, look for me on April 2 when I will be the Author of the Week on Full Moon Bites! More on that later…

~AUTHOR OF THE WEEK~

Currently I have February and March filled but looking for spots for April! It is fun and painless and all you have to do is answer some interview questions of if you’d prefer, write a guest blog. If you are interested and I hope you are, please contact me at any of the sites below.

This Sunday I will be hosting author Christine Cunningham…so be sure to stop by and meet this talented author…

NEW BLOG DESIGN COMING SOON!!!

I have been doing a lot of thinking lately and decided to jazz up my blog a bit! I love the pink and the stars but want something else to really make my site pop!

I found some cool ideas and I am now in the process of learning more about the tech side of things. But look for a new design in the next few days. I think you will like the one I picked out!

~WHAT I AM WORKING ON~

I am getting ready to work on my next book. It starts off in 1800’s London and is about a child who is abducted from her family by her father’s stable hand. He is obsessed with the young girl and his twisted love for the child plunges her into a dark underworld that holds no escape for her.

Can you guess what’s coming next? If you know my books, you will know..

I am still in search of a title which is strange because that is usually the first thing that pops into my head when I think about writing another story.

~WHAT I AM READING~

I love to read and would love to have more time for it but I squeeze it in where I can. I feel that in order to be a good writer, a person must enjoy reading.

But the book that I am reading now is by Anne Rice who says (many times) in the book that she was never a very good reader. So, I guess there is hope for those of you out there who follow in her footsteps.

Her book, “CALLED OUT OF DARKNESS~A Spiritual Confession”, is her journey from growing up a good and obedient Catholic girl, to becoming an atheist, then at 57 years old, coming back to her faith.

It is a haunting memoir of her life growing up in New Orleans and how life can sometimes change your perception of what is faith and what if one day everything you believe in goes away.

“10 WAYS TO IMPROVE YOUR WRITING”…COOL ARTICLE!!!

Happy Monday evening!

All day long I have been thinking it was Tuesday! Well, what’s the old saying, lose a day, lose a friend, gain a day, gain a friend. So I guess I gained a friend somewhere! Hello, where are you? 🙂

Well, I think my car needs an exorcist! Maybe not but there is something strange going on there. I have an awesome purple PT Cruiser that I absolutely love!

I keep it pretty clean, at least it doesn’t look like Steve’s truck and someone lives in there! His excuse? “Honey, it’s a work truck, it’s supposed to be dirty!” 🙂

Today I was driving home and there was the worse smell coming from inside the car! It was putrid and oh so gross and as fast as it came on, it went away. It was not like rotten eggs so I think the catalytic converter might be okay but whatever it was, it was really gross!

Okay, the topic today is not about weird odors in cars but how to improve your writing.  I came across this groovy little article in Writer’s Digest that I wanted to share with you. No matter how good we are at writing 🙂 we could all use some tips.

It’s called “10 WAYS TO IMPROVE YOUR WRITING” (While Thinking Like a Comedy Writer)

Check it out http://www.writersdigest.com/whats-new/10-ways-to-improve-your-writing-while-thinking-like-a-comedy-writer?et_mid=534520&rid=3095933

UPCOMING PUNCTURE NEWS

PUNCTURE

As you may know by now, my vampire novel PUNCTURE is my baby! It was first released back in 2004 in paperback and I have since “re~vamped” it and it was re~released as an eBook in October of last year.

I am currently working on a really cool book trailer that will be out very, very soon!

PLUS…get this…in the coming weeks, you will be introduced to the characters of PUNCTURE. That’s right, you are going to meet, in the flesh, Victor, Veronica, Aidan and Melissa.

Each week, I will post a photo of the image that I had in my mind as I writing this book. The characters are spot on and I could not find anyone better to portray my characters.

I am very excited to be able to introduce you to them so as you read this hauntingly beautiful tale of vampire love and betrayal between a mortal and an undead…you will be able to see first hand, the faces of the people you are reading about. How cool is that? 🙂

First up will be Victor Leatherman, charming lover…evil vampire…ruthless killer…dark prince of Veronica’s heart…her lover…her savoir…her murderer…her regret

WEIGHT WATCHERS NEWS

If anyone has been following my weight loss journey, I lost another .8 this morning at weigh in. Hey, it’s not earth shattering but at least the scale is going down, down, down…right where I want it to go. I want to reach my goal weight by my birthday March 18 and guess what…I think I might be pretty close! Yippee!!!! 🙂
